6 Current Favorites For Efficient Cleaning!

I’ve gone through a lot of cleaning products through my adult life…and multiple homes. I’ve tried about every kind of tub cleaning method and even had one of those spinny electric scrubby brushes on a stick…

Lately I’ve really dialed in and simplified what I use to clean the house. I generally don’t have a lot of time to clean and when I do, I have two very curious helpers. So my routine has to be efficient.

I’m so excited though because I’ve FINALLY found what works best for our tub. So for context, we have the pre-made easy to install fiberglass shower/bathtubs. So it’s a smooth surface that seems to just invite grime to stick to it like glue.

In the past when I had tile, I only ever used comet. This just wasn’t working for me in the current bathrooms. I went through a bleach phase, a Kaboom phase and I also tried the dawn dish soap mixed with vinegar in a sponge wand. I mean they all worked, but I was having to scrub until my arm hurt to get stuff off. Is that tmi? I swear we’re not that gross. I just hadn’t found *the* product for us yet…

Now that the girls are here and taking big-girl baths, I like to clean their tub before each use. They share their bathroom with Hubs and he showers away daily kitchen grime…if you’ve ever worked in a kitchen, you know what I’m talking about. I want the girls to stay healthy and get clean in that tub so I scrub it each time.

  1. Magic Eraser Bath Cleaning Pad:

Enter the Magic Eraser Bath Cleaning Pad!!!

This thing is literally as simple as it’s always been. Wet sponge, wring out excess water, scrub tub. You don’t even have to rinse (although I do if the girls are about to take their bath.) This product even leaves the faucet sparkly! I also like that it’s considered non-toxic (check this link out for more info.) Honestly I barely break a sweat and this gets my tub squeaky clean in a few passes.

I used to dread cleaning the shower/tubs the most because of how long it would take. This laughs in the face of past Eva every time. I swear I’m not getting paid by Mr. Clean himself to say this either, I’m just a true convert.

2. Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Every Day Cleaner:

So what do I clean the rest of my bathroom surfaces with?? The holy grail of sprays: Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Every Day Cleaner

I use this on my kitchen counters, sinks, trashcans, bathroom surfaces, floors and MIRRORS. Yes this works on glass and mirrors. Does windex or vinegar work a little better? Probably. Are you in a hurry and just want the thing clean and clear? This works! To give this a boost in the disinfecting department, add a little white vinegar. (But check out this article to learn more about non-toxic disinfectants.) Also, Mrs. Meyer’s has several scents, all of which I love. The best part about this product is that you simply buy the Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Concentrate, and mix a tablespoon of this with a half a bottle of water (and throw in some vinegar) and refill your original spray bottle again and again. This seriously lasts forever. Check out the concentrate below:

3. Mrs. Meyer’s Room Spray:

Speaking of Mrs. Meyer’s this has been my favorite way to freshen things up. I like soy candles to enhance a room’s smell, but I find this is a faster way to achieve a fresh scent if I’m expecting company. The Mrs. Meyer’s Room Spray

4. Swiffer Duster 360:

I’m not usually the type to jump at the opportunity to dust my house, but when my Mom bought me this Swiffer Duster 360 with extender I was able to quickly get my house in tip-top shape. Now it’s easy to maintain with this awesome product. I can even get the ceiling fan in my living room that has a vaulted ceiling. (Granted I’m 5’10” myself!)

5. Bissel Carpet Sweeper:

This Bissel Carpet Sweeper has been around since 1876. Same company, same design. And it has honestly aged well. The girls like to leave little trails of snacks everywhere and usually my carpet is riddled with stuff after dinner. Depending on what was dropped, this does a quick job of “sweeping” the carpet in between vacuuming.

6. BLACK+DECKER Handheld Vacuum:

The girls also love to make a huge mess in my car with their snacks wherever we go. I was starting to feel overwhelmed by keeping up with it, so I bought this handheld vacuum (Dustbuster) for that purpose. However, with the girls really loving to make a mess with their various snacks everywhere they go, it has served me well in the house too. I like that it is rechargeable and that I can just leave it on its charger. It’s loud and the girls don’t care for it much, but it’s so fast and gets in the nooks and crannies of the sofa.

Well that sums up my current 6 products for efficient cleaning! I do my best, but I’m still learning. It’s hard to just stay on top of the laundry alone, let alone daily cleaning. If you have any tips or product recommendations I’d love to hear them!
