Halloween Ceramics

A couple of months ago, my mom and I rediscovered ceramic painting at a local shop here in Carrollton. We spent about two hours with another mother and daughter painting these Witchy Trees. After they were fired, I glued in the bulbs and plugged it in. We love the way they came out, and the girls enjoyed them as well.

We’re planning to integrate ceramic painting into our lives as much as possible. Last weekend we painted Christmas Gnomes, and I can’t wait to share pictures after they’re fired!

I think we both like the idea of creating heirlooms to enjoy and pass on. It’s a tradition first started by my grandmother. Edwina Laughlin owned her own ceramic workshop business back in the 70s, and we grew up with heirlooms like these all over her house and ours. It’s fun to think about her as we paint.

Of course, you can find some similar looking ones online if you’re not into the painting scene. Check out this tree on Amazon.
