January Preschool Themes Calendar

I’m a few days late on this, but honestly I spent New Years Day in my new house shoes and my flannel robe, directing the day from the couch. It was glorious. But luckily that break left me feeling more refreshed then I’ve felt in months.

As a stay at home mom, there is no such thing as a break. At least, not with twin toddlers running around 24-7. The nice part is that we got to have Hubs around to help out more. But our usual days consist of me and the girls for 10 hours straight without him.

I’m constantly looking for ways to keep our days interesting and the girls entertained. The girls have spent the past month sniffly and fighting cold after cold. I haven’t felt comfortable taking them to our normal Library Story Time or Gymnastics time (plus the holidays disrupted the normal event schedules) so we’ve gotten a bit of cabin fever.

I’m hoping to get everyone feeling healthy, happy and ready to get back to our routine this month! Here’s our January calendar with the themes of the week we’ll be learning about.

How to use this calendar:

  • I like to incorporate coloring pages for each week that pertain to the theme. I get all my coloring pages from Super Coloring.
  • I also like to spend one or two days with some play dough and corresponding cookie cutters. My mom gifted me this Cookie Cutter Set for an early Christmas/birthday present and it’s already gotten a lot of use!
  • If I’m lucky, I can find some books that pertain to the theme and I display them on our playstand for easy picking. The girls always reach for the displayed books first.
  • I incorporate finger play songs (when they pay attention) that have to do with the theme of the week. Here’s a great resource for those: Songs For Teaching
  • Essentially, as the girls are not even 2 yet, my goal for the week is to incorporate some new vocabulary words into their regular speech.

I’d like to share this calendar with you for free, so if you’re interested, please click the link below:

Let me know how you incorporate different themes into your weeks. I am also always looking for new activities to keep these babies entertained! Thanks for reading!
